Lasermax Roll Systems – Compliance with the Provisions of the RoHS Directive
Ljungby, Sweden (20 November 2006) –In 2003, the European Union adopted what is known as the ROHS directive (directive 2002/95/EC on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment). The RoHS directive aims at
eliminating or restricting the use – as from the design stage
– of certain specified hazardous materials in a broad range of
electrical and electronic equipment, which are sold in the
European Union after 1 July 2006.
The RoHS directive applies to equipment falling under
categories 1 to 7 and 10 listed in Annex I A of the so-called
WEEE directive (2002/96/EC). The latter directive provides
for the selective collection, treatment and other forms of
recovery and disposal of waste electrical and electronic
equipment. A detailed list of the products to be taken into
account for the purpose of the RoHS and WEEE directives and
falling under the categories in Annex I A is established in
Annex I B of the WEEE directive.
The vast majority of products manufactured and sold by
Lasermax Roll Systems do not in our view fall within the scope
of the directives, as these products are characterized as “large-
scale stationary industrial tools,” which are expressly exempted
from the scope of application of the directives.
However, a few Lasermax Roll Systems products fall under the
equipment categories which are covered by the directives, and
are consequently subject to the RoHS requirements. All such
products sold by Lasermax Roll Systems to customers in the
European Union will fully comply with the provisions of the
RoHS Directive as of 1 July 2006.
In summary, all products that Lasermax Roll Systems sells in
the European Union after 1 July 2006, will either not contain
any hazardous substances which are prohibited under the RoHS
directive, or will be exempted from the scope of application of
the RoHS directive.
Lasermax Roll Systems has proactively been working to protect
the environment in the development and design of new
products, as well as in the manufacture of existing products.
Lasermax Roll Systems is committed to the environment for
the common future of us all, and will continue to act with
consideration of the environment.
