Lasermax Roll Systems Shows In-Line and
Near-Line Finishing Solutions at Print 05

Chicago, IL (September 9, 2005) – Lasermax Roll Systems, the world’s leading provider of productivity solutions for digital printing, is showcasing a variety of in-line and near-line finishing systems for high-speed digital printers at the Print 05 show in Chicago over the next week.

At the Lasermax Roll Systems booth (#3580) a pair of systems is producing output ready for near-line finishing.  First, an LX Stack solution and an IBM Infoprint 4100 printing system are producing 3-up book blocks of “The Golf Gods Are Laughing”, “Nika Hazelton’s Pasta Cookbook”, and other titles.  The book blocks are finished near-line using a CP Bourg BB3002 for perfect binding and a Prism P78 cutter provided by Colter & Peterson.  The LX Stack system shown includes the new LX561 Cutter and LX566 Stacker modules, featuring the capability to cut and stack paper basis weights as light as 40 gsm (11# bond).  In addition to the books, the LX Stack and IBM printer are running a direct mail postcard application on 9 pt, 235 gsm coated stock, featuring discount offers for Chicago restaurants, golf, and sightseeing.

Also in the Lasermax Roll Systems booth is the RS MultiUp, capable of handling sheets up to 21" x 36" in size, in basis weights as light as 38 gsm  (10# bond).  RS MultiUp outputs 30" high stacks for easy bulk movement to near-line signature folders or other finishing devices.

Finally in the Lasermax Roll Systems booth is the Web Vision System.  Web Vision uses state-of-the-art cameras to scan the full width of the digitally printed paper web, capturing large, high-quality images while enabling an in-depth analysis of image quality, workflow quality and data quality.

At the Océ booth (#2462), the LX Stack is cutting and stacking 3-up 6x9 book blocks from an Océ VarioStream 7650 CX printing system, for near-line finishing into short-run books.  Océ is hosting a live book signing each day, with authors signing their digitally produced books.

In an in-line finishing demonstration in the Xerox booth (#1228), the RS Roll-to-Sheet is feeding 12-panel signatures from a three engine Xerox DocuPrint 525 multiplex printing configuration to an in-line MBO B-21 folder, Palamides Alpha 500 stacker, Muller Martini SigmaBinder and 3 knife trimmer.  Also in the multiplex configuration, the RS Roll to Roll rewinds rolls of 2-up MICR-printed statements.  Elsewhere in the booth, the recently introduced Lasermax Roll Systems DocuSheeter iG roll feed system is feeding the Xerox iGen3 Digital Production Press.  The DocuSheeter iG feeds up to 60,000 sheets from a single roll for 15 hours or more, significantly reducing paper cost and increasing productivity on the iGen3.

Another in-line finishing demonstration is featured in the Nipson booth (#12049), as an LX Perfect Bind delivers 2-up 8.5 x 11 book blocks from a Nipson VaryPress 200 to a Muller Martini SigmaBinder.

In the Canon booth (#2079), a DocuSheeter LS feeds roll paper to a Canon imageRUNNER Pro 150VP.  A variety of Lasermax Roll Systems unwinders feed BÖWE Bell + Howell inserters in the BÖWE Bell + Howell booth (#2073).

Peter Wood, director of graphic arts technology for Lasermax Roll Systems, is speaking at a session in the Mailing and Fulfillment Theater, at 1:30 PM on Monday, September 12.  Mr. Wood’s theme is “In-line vs. Off-Line MICR Verification.”
