MICRcheck In-line MICR Verification Announced

Miami Beach, FL (February 2, 2006) Lasermax Roll Systems announces initial release and availability of the MICRcheck™ in-line MICR verification system in North America.  MICRcheck provides assurance of MICR print quality to organizations printing large volumes of checks on high-speed continuous digital printers, without the waste and interruptions inherent in an off-line verification process.

MICRcheck consists of a magnetic read unit mounted on a web handling module, integrated with a separate computer to provide a user interface with analysis charts, reports, and archived test data.  With MICRcheck, printing pauses only momentarily to allow magnetic sensors to sweep the printed web and verify MICR readability.

When compared to off-line verification (the only previous way to reliably verify MICR readability to banking industry standards), MICRcheck benefits include reduced printing system downtime and avoidance of re-printing costs, as well as eliminating the waste of test checks or eliminating the labor involved in returning live tested checks back into the output stream.  Most significantly, this ease of use allows for more frequent testing, greatly reducing the risks of undetected poor quality checks with the consequent financial penalties.

“Early customer results have shown that printer downtime can be reduced by one hour per shift through eliminating off-line MICR testing, without loss of quality control integrity,” said Peter Wood, director of product management for Lasermax Roll Systems.  “We’re convinced that users will achieve measurable operational gains with MICRcheck, and will benefit as well from being able to provide proof of quality to higher management and customers.”

MICRcheck was first shown in the Lasermax Roll Systems booth at the Xplor / Graphics of the Americas show in Miami Beach.
